PhD in Forestry Sciences from the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Joensuu (now University of Eastern Finland – Itä-Suomen yliopisto). Agricultural Engineer from the Public University of Navarre (UPNA, 1998), Forestry Engineering degree from the University of Lleida (UdL, 2001), and Master’s in Forestry Science from the University of Joensuu (2002).

He has been working at the CTFC since 2006, initially as a junior researcher within the MEDFOREX project, and later as a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow (2007–2010), Ramón y Cajal researcher (2012–2016), and under the I3 program (2017–present). His research focuses on abiotic risk and its integration into forest management planning. He develops models to assess the susceptibility of different forest types to fire and other disturbances.
