Pérez-Granados, Cristian

Cristian Pérez-Granados works as a Distinguished Researcher Beatriz Galindo at the Ecology Department at the University of Alicante aiming to improve our knowledge about the ecology of invasive species and to develop automated techniques for detecting remotely the occurrence of invasive species. His research lines also include several topics related to biodiversity conservation, especially about bird conservation. Cristian Pérez-Granados did his PhD and his first postdoc at the University of Alicante and Autonomous University of Madrid, respectively, about the ecology and the conservation of the Dupont’s Lark (Chersophilus duponti), a threatened bird species. He also worked for two years at the Federal University of Mato Grosso, developing new indices and methods to improve the use of passive acoustic monitoring for bird monitoring, and one year at the University of Girona, within the AlienScenarios project, an international project aimed to predict plausible futures of biological invasions in Europe and understand the impact the different drivers (i.e. global trade, legislation, management practices) have on the number of established alien species in Europe.

He is co-author of about 50 articles published in SCI journals, and he has also published 10 books or book chapters and more than 20 articles in popular magazines. He has participated in over 50 scientific conferences or lectures, including oral presentations in several international conferences and invited lectures for Wildlife Acoustics, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, or the Technical University of Varna.
