I am currently a post-doc researcher at the CTFC since October 2018. My research focuses in understanding fire regimes at the landscape scale in Mediterranean ecosystems. Wildfires are one of the major drivers of change of current agricultural and natural systems, and extreme wildfires suppose a major threat to ecosystems resilience and human societies. Under a climate change situation, wildfires are projected to increase its extent and severity around the world. My research tries to predict future fire regime evolution to eventually help to design management plans that reduce wildfire risk and guarantee ecosystem functioning and productivity. By understanding fire dynamics, my overarching goal is to help decision-makers to manage current landscapes under the ongoing and future global change situation. During my entire research career, I have been closely linked to different wildfire stakeholders such as firefighters and prevention services, trying to perform innovative research that will be eventually transferred to the politicians, decision makers, managers and the society in general.
