Researcher and Visiting Professor at the Department of Crop and Forest Science of the University of Lleida (UdL) in Spain, and member of the Steering Committee of the Global Forest Biodiversity Initiative (http://www.gfbinitiative.org/).

He has extensive international forest research experience gained at different research institutions such as the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD, France), the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE, Costa Rica) and CTFC, as well as in the University of Eastern Finland (UEF, Finland), where he obtained his PhD degree and worked as a researcher. His main research interest is the multifunctionality of forest ecosystems. His field of expertise is forest ecosystem modelling at multiple scales including biodiversity and multiple (wood & non-wood) ecosystem services in relation to forest management and global change scenarios.

He has 15 years of experience in international research studies and projects on forest ecosystem services and biodiversity, including several H2020 projects, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, FP7 and INCO-DEV projects, among many other national and international projects. He teaches undergraduate and master-level courses at UdL, including the Erasmus Mundus Master on Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management (MEDfOR).

He is the coordinator and main lecturer of the courses Forest Modeling & Statistical Methods and Special Topics in Silviculture, also lecturing on a regular basis in the courses Trends of Forestry in a Global Change Context and Mediterranean Forest Management.
